Phil Free is an artist that is in the rock genera with a unique vocal sound. I have had the pleasure of performing with him and bassist Joaquin Zamudio to make his latest record. Looking forward to hearing the end product.
The Staff at Allusion Studios is very excited to use all the latest video equipment we upgraded to. This will be the first real full resolution production we have done. We are closing the studio for a week strait to accomplish this monumental task. New lights, Light meters, DSC charts, Tripods and heads, Jib and yes, 2 full HD cams. And that is just the video equipment. We also have a new 6 pc Yamaha Absolute Kit, Paiste Cymbals, Mojave Mics, dampeners etc…. Here is a little preview.

After much contemplation, I decided to look into changing electronic drum systems. I was looking for a product that was light weight and had a plethora of options including many triggers. I came across the Alternate Mode TrapKat. After much research I am proud to announce I was awarded and endorsement deal with Alternate Mode. After pushing the limits on how this unit can be setup Alternate Mode decided to rewrite the manual to accommodate the type of programming I was looking to accomplish. In the near future I will be publishing some videos of performances on the TrapKat. This unit is used mainly with the Domingo DeGrazia Band.

This April I attended the National Association of Broadcasters to get up to date on the latest video technology. I have not been to the show in 12 years so it was a great experience to get back in touch. I had 3 main goals in mind. Higher resolution cameras, smoother shots and better workflow. I even tried on Glidecam’s full body harness. At the end of the day I got new Canon cameras, manfrotto heads and tripods and EZFX jib. Our video production has definitely taken a huge step forward in quality. Just in time for The Studio Edge Vol 3.

Hi Everyone. It’s coming down to the taping of the last show. If you have not experienced the show live yet, it is a whole different vibe in person and worthy of the trip to the Desert Diamond Monsoon Night Club on Old Nogales Highway. We’ll be having a pre-show party with a lot of guest vocal performances, including yours truly. I’ve toured the world as an engineer, drummer, and even singing backup vocals, but never as a lead vocalist. I do not claim to be a vocalist anywhere NEAR the realm of Crystal Stark (fellow LB judge and American Idol top finalist), so I did the next best thing. I asked Crystal to do a duet with me. Yes, I know. Smart man surrounding myself with talented people. Haha! I’ve got my work cut out for me. We are taking on a very difficult duet by a couple of powerhouse 90’s R&B artists. But sorry – no spoilers. You will have to come down and see what we are singing! We go on at 7pm this Saturday Feb 11th. Hope to see you there!
